Just days before his 40th birthday, Matt Buckner became a hall-of-famer.
The Farragut High School baseball coach and former head coach Bearden was inducted into the East Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame at a ceremony June 2 at Smokies Stadium.
Buckner led Farragut baseball to Class AAA state championships in 2010, 2011 and 2014 with runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2015.
He coached Bearden to the Class AAA state tournament, the program’s first appearance since 1976.
More offers for Moore: Catholic defensive lineman Stiles Moore, a 6-3, 240-pound rising junior, received an offer Saturday night from Duke University.
He picked up an offer from Central Michigan in the middle of May to follow the Tulane offer he received in March.
He tweeted today (Sunday, June 3) that he was headed to visit Virginia Tech, so another offer could surface.
Moore helped Catholic win a Class 5A state championship last season, returning a fumble 33 yards for a touchdown in the 45-28 title-game win over Beech.
