CLINTON — Stone Hatmaker, the Class of 2021 quarterback for Anderson County High School, isn’t trying to be Stanton Martin, a two-time Mr. Football finalist for the Mavericks the past two seasons.
Rather, as the new starting quarterback for Anderson County, Hatmaker’s focus is solely on getting up to speed and developing chemistry with the new cast of talent around him.
“He was a really good mentor for me and helped me out a lot,” Hatmaker said of Martin. “I think we’ll be ready. He’s got me ready.”
That process resumed Monday for Hatmaker and AC with the return of 7-on-7 practices, now that the TSSAA-mandated, two-week dead period is over.
Here’s what we saw and learned from the Mavericks and Admirals personnel and coaches on Monday.
