Sam Vaulton led the Alcoa football team to a Class 2019 Class 3A state championship this past season.
But when he, a Class of 2021 prospect, left Alcoa in early March to transfer to California, that left a vacancy at the starting quarterback position.
But there just may be a competition to be his successor.
