ALCOA – One down. One to go.
Junior Ahmaudd Sankey rushed for 154 yards and four touchdowns in the first half as Alcoa rolled to a 49-0 victory over Gatlinburg-Pittman and clinched the Region 2-3A championship in a driving rain Friday night.
Alcoa (8-1, 6-0 region) has won seven straight region titles and four consecutive state titles.
Its next goal: one more state title.
“To win a championship at any level is pretty cool,” Alcoa coach Gary Rankin said. “The region championship was important to our guys. You don’t get many chances to win championships. Now we’ve got one more we want to get.”
