CLINTON — Any Senior Night for high school athletics evokes emotion and reflection.
That was especially the case for Anderson County’s boys basketball team on Friday in a 85-63 home win over Northview Academy to close out the regular season.
There are seven seniors for the Mavericks — Anderson County all-time leading scorer Brandon Dake, Hayden Craig, Dylan Hopper, Ethan Nelson, Gavin Higgs, Trent Strickland and Judson Ayers — and they’ve helped lead a turnaround over the past four seasons.
“It’s a great class of guys. There’s seven of them, and they’re such good people. They’re good players, but they’re better people,” Anderson County coach Jordan Jeffers said.
“I’ve got three kids, my kids are very involved with the program. My wife is very involved, and I don’t feel one bit weird when our players are around my kids, especially those seniors.”
