One goal down. A couple more to go.
That’s the situation for the Farragut girls’ basketball team after posting a 40-31 victory over Oak Ridge on Monday night in the Region 2-4A elimination semifinals at Bearden.
With the win, Farragut (25-7) earned its first state sectional berth since the 2014-15 season.
“It’s huge. We’ve never been here before,” Farragut senior Avery Strickland said. “Obviously coming into it, there’s a little mental block but we knew we should win because we have confidence in ourselves, and that’s something that has really changed this year.”
Farragut will play at Bearden (31-3) on Wednesday night at 7 for the region championship and home-court advantage in Saturday’s sectionals, in which winners advance to the state quarterfinals in Murfreesboro.
