DANDRIDGE — Bearden defeated Jefferson County 23-20 in a dogfight on Friday night. And with the win, the Bulldogs advance to the TSSAA State Quarterfinals for the first time since 2010.
The game played out how many expected in Dandridge — a down-to-the-wire battle between two mirroring Class 6A squads. The Bulldogs held strong on defense and earned a rematch with Bradley Central (12-0) next week.
“Hats off to coach Riley and his staff and team,” Bearden head coach Josh Jones said. “They’ve had a great year. They were a great team. They gave us all we wanted tonight and then some, we just happened to make one more play than they did and we’re fortunate enough to still be playing.”
Here’s how Bearden kept their playoff run alive on Friday night.
