MARYVILLE — The excitement of the finish matched the magnitude of the moment.
And decades of Bearden trying to defeat Maryville came down to a less-than-a-minute sequence that started with the realization that the Rebels were going for two in overtime, and ended with the Bulldogs rushing the field in jubilation after stopping them.
With that stand, Bearden took down Maryville 21-20 on Friday at Shields Stadium to give the Bulldogs their first win over the Rebels since 1993.
