If Maryville is to avoid losing The Battle of Pistol Creek in consecutive years for the first time since 2009-10, the Rebels’ wide receiving corps will have to play a major part.
With star running back Tee Hodge (turf toe) listed as a game-time decision for the Thursday contest, targets like A.J. Davis and Ashton Maples will need to get open often and make the tough catches when needed.
Basically, they’ll need to be special against one of the state’s top defenses.
“I think this is one of the better receiving corps we’ve had at Maryville in quite some time,” Maryville coach Derek Hunt told 5Star Preps and Josh Ward on ‘Prep Sports Tonight’ Wednesday night on WNML-FM 99.1.
“We’re fortunate enough to have them. But those guys work really hard. They deserve (that praise).”
