I turn my phone horizontally, press the record button and find an opening in the net behind home plate where I can clearly film Kaden Martin’s second at-bat of the night.
With all due respect to Bearden starting pitcher Josh Stubblefield, I realize somewhere deep in my subconscious I am hoping the left-handed-hitting Martin cranks some fastball over the right-field fence and onto Fox Lonas Road.
Not only will it make for a great video Friday night, it will help my story angle tremendously.
This is my first encounter with the heralded freshman two-sport athlete and son of former Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin, and I want a story to tell for the ages.
Ball one. Martin’s at-bat is off to a good start.
