The Catholic girls’ basketball team took the first step toward defending its Division II-AA state championship Saturday afternoon.
It came at the expense of visiting Webb School of Knoxville.
Catholic won the Division II-AA East Region title with a 50-46 victory and earned a first-round bye in Tuesday’s opening round of the state tournament into next Friday’s quarterfinals, which it will be host.
