Deep into a dark, moonless Friday night, Central’s Braden Gaston suddenly saw daylight, lots and lots of daylight.
“It was awesome; it was great blocking,” Central High’s senior wide receiver said after gathering in a kickoff from Fulton midway through the third quarter. “I saw the hole and I took off.”
Gaston sprinted straight upfield and then veered to the right, ignited by the opening and chased by a haunting fear.
“Don’t get caught,” he said, smiling. “Don’t get caught.”
