Dakota Fawver got an earful that something special was going on Friday night.
The Central High quarterback’s sightline had been temporarily turned skyward after being leveled by a South-Doyle defender. But he was tuned in to the sweet sound of celebration.
“I could hear the crowd cheering,” he said.
Fawver scrambled to his feet to witness the conclusion of teammate Makhi Anderson’s 83-yard catch and sprint to the end zone with 1 minute, 47 seconds left. The touchdown was the winning score of the Bobcats’ dramatic 20-16 road victory in a quarterfinal game of the Class 5A state playoffs.
