MARYVILLE – Emily Gonzalez’s hard work has paid off.
The senior guard for Bearden was chosen MVP of the District 4-4A tournament Monday night after a 62-50 victory over Farragut in the championship game at Heritage.
“(Gonzalez) works so hard,” Bearden coach Justin Underwood said. “She puts a ton of time in. She’s always in the gym and that work has come out and shown. She’s a great kid. I’m proud of her for all the work she’s put in to be able to get that (MVP) accolade. She doesn’t need it or want it, but she deserved it.”
