Scott Cummings paints a picture of Jake Parris in sepia tone, as if he’s bolting straight out of some other football era.
“He’s an old-school soul,” Halls High’s coach said of the Red Devils’ running back, “that knows football, loves contact. He’s a competitor, and he has enough speed to run away from you.”
Parris came as Red Grange on the night after Halloween, scoring five touchdowns to lead a 42-13 rout of Seymour on Friday night. The victory clinched the No. 3 playoff seed out of Region 2-5A for Halls (7-3, 4-2). Furthermore, the victory added to an impressive scoring surge for Parris, who scored 12 touchdowns in the final three regular-season games.
