South-Doyle High School rising junior WR/DB Elijah Howard received a scholarship offer from the University of Arkansas, he tweeted Saturday morning.
South-Doyle head coach Clark Duncan confirmed the offer by text, clarifying the offer came in actually on Friday and that Arkansas defensive coordinator John Chavis extended it to Young. Chavis was the defensive coordinator at Tennessee from 1995-2008.
Young is a versatile athlete who accounted for 1,021 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore with two interceptions and three blocked field goals.
Tennessee’s new coaching staff has also offered.
The 5-11, 170-pound Young also has SEC offers from South Carolina and Mississippi State. Louisville has offered, as well.
