Despite winning four of the 10 events, Campbell County junior Christian Shouse finished runner-up Friday in the Division I Large School State Decathlon at Austin Peay.
Shouse fell just 201 points shy of Brentwood sophomore Jett Kinder (6,557).
Still, Shouse shone throughout the two-day event, taking first place in the decathlon’s 100m (11.22 seconds), the 400m (49.92), the shotput (43 feet, 5 inches) and the discus (133-11).
Caroline Lewis, a junior from Knoxville West, took third in the Division I Large School Pentathlon on Thursday.
Alcoa senior Hunter Marsh placed third in the Division I Small School Decathlon, winning the pole vault at 11-5.75 — some 2 feet better than the nearest competitor. He also won the 1500m by 1.12 seconds with a mark of 4:44.35.
