The New York Mets selected Tennessee Tech first basemen Chase Chambers in the 18th round of the MLB Draft.
Chambers, who starred at Farragut High from 2011-14), was the 530th overall selection.
After a strong junior season in 2017 in which Chambers hit .299 with 18 home runs and 61 RBIs, he has trumped those numbers with a monstrous 2018 campaign — .404, 17 home runs and 82 RBIs.
He was recently named Most Outstanding Player at the Oxford Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Golden Eagles will play in the Super Regionals this weekend in a Best-of-3 series against Texas.
