On Monday afternoon, the TSSAA announced that the Division I and Division II girls’ soccer state tournaments will be postponed until next week “due to the current condition of fields at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex from this past weekend’s rain and the projected forecast for Wednesday and Thursday of this week,” per a TSSAA release.
The same schedule slated for this week shifts to the same days and times next week, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 6 for Division I and Thursday, Nov. 7 for Division II.
Teams from this area who are in the field include: Central, Alcoa, Catholic, Greeneville, Cosby and Maryville. And for programs like those and the others involved, it means rescheduling transportation and lodging plans.
And for teams like Central and Cosby, who are making their first-ever trip to the state tournament, it means waiting another week.
“We regret any inconvenience this causes and appreciate everyone’s understanding as we work through this difficult and unavoidable situation,” added the TSSAA.
