Fulton head coach Jody Wright looked up at the scoreboard, then out to the court as the seconds ticked away in the Falcons’ 69-61 Class 3A state sectional victory over visiting Page.
By that point, his 800th victory was in hand. And so was Fulton’s state-tournament berth.
But just over an hour earlier, he had been sitting on the Falcons bench alone, watching the two teams go through pregame warmups. The 37-year coaching veteran was left wondering how Page’s players were hitting so many shots after a four-hour road trip.
