WHITE PINE – Winning just seems to follow Gary Rankin wherever he goes.
Friday at Lakeway Christian Academy, Rankin posted career victory No. 482 as Boyd-Buchanan downed the Lions 34-22 in a Division II-AA East Region contest.
Rankin, who has more wins than any coach in Tennessee prep football history, of course had previous record-breaking stops at Riverdale and Alcoa before making the move to Boyd-Buchanan after the 2021 season.
Rankin, who has an all-time record of 482-82 and 17 state championships to his credit in 42 years of coaching, said it never gets old.
Winning, that is.
“We’re still not where we want to be, but we’re 8-0,” said Rankin.
“That’s all that matters. I’ll take it. We’re just a team trying to get there.”
