UPDATE, Friday, July 31, 2020 (5:57 p.m.): Gov. Bill Lee — three days after announcing he would green light fall sports like football and girls soccer — signed the executive order to allow for football and girls’ soccer to begin on time.

Also, Knox County Schools confirmed that practices can begin on Monday.

With the 2020 high school football season hanging in the balance, Gov. Bill Lee gave the green light Tuesday for contact sports to resume.
After much speculation if there would even be a football season this fall due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Lee issued Executive Order No. 55 as part of the “Safe Reopening Plan for Tennessee Schools.”
Under Lee’s order, schools may resume contact work as long as they adhere to Covid-19 guidelines set by the TSSAA.
