After years of frustration, the Halls softball team finally made it over the Region 2-AAA semifinal hump Tuesday.
The Lady Red Devils advanced to the region championship game for the first time under seven-year coach Bryan Gordon with a 1-0 win over Maryville at Halls.
“We’ve been talented for a long time, but we’ve never put 16 or 17 kids together like this,” said Gordon, who earned his first region semifinal win in five tries at Halls.
“This group is special and they’ve got great chemistry,” he said.
