MURFREESBORO — Last season, the Greenback baseball team was just on the cusp of a big breakthrough in the final week.
The Cherokees won 31 games, reached the Class A state tournament and went 2-2 during their stay in Murfreesboro.
But no state title.
On Tuesday, the Cherokees started off their state tournament week the right way, defeating Lake County, 6-2.
