Not many onlookers Wednesday night at the Arby’s Classic likely gave the Greeneville boys’ basketball team much of a chance against Dr. Phillips High from Orlando, Fla.
It wasn’t that no one respected Greeneville, which won a Class AA state championship in March.
It was more that Dr. Phillips won Class 7A in Florida last season and brought three high-major prospects to Bristol, Tenn., to win this tournament.
Greeneville sent the Panthers off the court disappointed, though, Wednesday night, pulling off the shock of the prestigious bracket in a 76-72 win.
