CORRYTON — Pitching and patience.
Those were the two main reasons Greeneville was able to beat Gibbs twice in Friday’s Class 3A baseball sectional to earn a spot in the state tournament.
The Greene Devils are Murfreesboro bound for the first time since 2018 after defeating the Eagles 4-0 in Game 1, and 7-3 in Game 2 at Gibbs.
“We started back in October,” Greeneville coach Andy Collins said. “You’ve got guys that are playing other sports obviously at Greeneville that still hit on the side and stuff like that. So, I kind of attribute it all to we’re a team that just works. If somebody wanted to say what gets them there, because they work at it.”
Game 1 had all of the pitching dramatics you could ask for.
