CORRYTON — The Gibbs community had to wait 672 days to see the Eagles play a home football game.
But they will have to wait just a little bit longer to see a home football victory.
That’s because the resurgent Halls Red Devils played spoiler Friday night with a 24-13 win at the new Ernest Whited Stadium.
After a year of road games due to stadium renovations, it was a packed and early arriving crowd at Gibbs, despite the heat.
Halls set the tone with its physical play, and remained consistent in its approach throughout the game.
“I told our kids this was going to be a fight for four quarters,” Red Devils coach Brent Hughes said.
“I told our offensive line that we were going to grind it. There’s a lot better plays I could’ve called, but I really wanted to impose our offensive line, and really set the tone up front and that’s what we did. I couldn’t be more proud of our football team.”
