Not often has the Bearden girls’ soccer team struggled the past couple of seasons, but it did Saturday morning.
Albertus Magnus High of Bardonia, N.Y., played the Lady Bulldogs to a 1-1 draw in a match between nationally ranked teams.
Two-time defending state champion Bearden (10-0-1) has been ranked No. 1 in the nation since last fall by United Soccer Coaches, and Albertus Magnus (4-0-2) is ranked No. 16.
The Lady Bulldogs haven’t lost a match since the 2020 season and on Saturday got their first draw since 2021 when they went 23-0-1 with a 0-0 draw against Catholic.
“I’m a little frustrated with it,” Bearden coach Ryan Radcliffe said of Saturday’s match.
