ALCOA, Tenn. — When Jamir Dean, a 6-foot-2 freshman who has played beyond his years of late for the Alcoa boys’ basketball team, got whistled for his fourth foul with 7 minutes, 26 seconds to play in Friday’s key District 2-2A showdown with Gatlinburg-Pittman, outright first place in the league standings oscillated in the wake of the call.
The Tornadoes had just made a surge late in the third quarter to take a five-point lead. And that foul-trouble adversity could have definitely derailed Alcoa’s chances.
