FARRAGUT — Down by 11 points midway through the second quarter, the Jefferson County football team put together a furious rally and scored 28 unanswered to post a 31-14 win on Rivalry Thursday.
The Patriots (7-1) extended their win streak to seven games.
Farragut (2-6) led 14-3 thanks to a pair of Wyatt Drummy short-yardage scores. But the Patriots turned the tide in the second quarter when Dallas Williamson tipped a Farragut pass and Jefferson County teammate Destin Adams intercepted it.
Omarian Mills turned that turnover into points with a touchdown run at the 5-minute mark of the second quarter, slicing into Farragut’s lead.
Mason Henderson’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Bryson Letterman put Jefferson County ahead 17-14 just before the halftime break.
Nic Moore intercepted a Farragut pass with 10:23 left in the third, and Mills added another short touchdown run to bump the lead to 24-14 with 9:47 to play in the quarter.
Williamson’s 12-yard touchdown run around right end on the third play of the final quarter all but put Farragut away.
