Farragut’s loser-goes-home game Friday against rival Bearden ended the only way it could have – with a dramatic finish.
Junior kicker Reese Keeney could hardly contain his excitement after his 29-yard, last-season field goal sailed through the uprights to send the Admirals to the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season.
Keeney rushed to the other end of the field with his teammates tailing behind him. And the student section was all over Keeney in an instant, storming the field to award the hero of the night a red and black stuffed crown.
“They started it a couple years ago with the rivalry as a tradition,” Keeney explained. “The winner keeps it every time. They gave it to me, and I threw it on.”
