LENOIR CITY – Loudon’s Jayden Capshaw didn’t let a gimmick defense slow him down Thursday night.
The 6-foot-1 junior guard/forward scored 20 points and the Redskins defeated host Lenoir City 63-59 in this basketball season’s first edition of the Battle of the Bridge.
Capshaw, averaging about 24 points, was the focal point of the Lenoir City defense.
“They were in a diamond-and-one,” Capshaw said. “Anytime I got the ball, they would send two people at me, so I had to give it up and my teammates stepped up and hit shots. That’s why we won the game.”
There’s some additional juice added to the rivalry game this season because Loudon (11-8, 3-2 in District 5-AAA) and Lenoir City (4-14, 0-3) are in the same district.
