Farragut’s Lukas Buckner stepped to the plate in the seventh inning Wednesday night and focused on getting in the right frame of mind.
His thought process must have been crystal clear.
The sophomore shortstop hit a walk-off, two-run single and lifted the Admirals to a 6-5 victory over visiting Powell for the Region 2-AAAA baseball championship.
“The hardest thing that I’ve been trying to work on is just clearing my mind,” Buckner said. “No thoughts, and just do what I do. That’s all I was thinking up there.”
Moments after delivering the winning hit, Buckner was surrounded by teammates and youthful Farragut fans, signing autographs before getting doused with a cooler of water.
