The return of senior Mason Brang from injury lifted the South-Doyle Cherokees over the visiting Daniel Boone Trailblazers in the second round of the Class 5A Playoffs on Friday.
Brang did not take long to catch a rhythm in his first game back since Week 3 of the regular season, and South-Doyle’s balanced attack secured a 28-12 victory.
“We were sound and patient here tonight,” South-Doyle coach Clark Duncan said. “It helped us a lot having Brang back, too. Whenever he returned to practice, it gave the whole team an extra push. The team is comfortable with him. That helped us with the ability to make big plays as we did here tonight.”
