Karns High School baseball standout Ryder Green was selected Tuesday in the third round (97th overall) of the Major League Baseball Draft by the New York Yankees.
Green, selected as an outfielder, helped Karns (30-9) reach the Class AAA state sectionals this past season.
Former Catholic star and current Kentucky junior catcher Kole Cottam was taken by the Boston Red Sox in the fourth round (130th overall). He hit .352 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs this season for the Wildcats.
And Tennessee Tech pitcher Travis Moths, a former William Blount standout, was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the seventh round (219th overall). The senior is 13-2 this season with a 3.86 ERA, 104 strikeouts and 36 walks. He is 18-3 combined over his last two seasons.
