The Webb School of Knoxville girls’ soccer team was on the verge of its first loss of the season Tuesday night at rival Catholic.
Then the match’s momentum turned like the weather.
It started raining with about 15 minutes left to play and Catholic leading 1-0.
Then it started pouring.
And then the Lady Spartans scored twice in a one-minute span in the closing minutes, taking a 2-1 victory from the Lady Irish.
Webb (13-0-1), ranked No. 8 nationally by MaxPreps, is atop the Division II-AA East Region standings with a 3-0 record.
Webb coach Elaine Roth said her team overcame a case of nerves.
