Bennett Greene stood poised atop the 10-meter diving platform at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center, a picture of stillness and concentration at an age characterized by spontaneous motion.
The skill and courage that went into his dive – a back 3 ½ tuck, known in the sport’s vernacular as a 207c – further belied Greene’s youth. Such a feat isn’t common for anyone.
But it’s especially uncommon for someone a few months shy of his 14th birthday.
