MARYVILLE – Maryville High’s defense got started a little early on being defensive this week.
Rebels quarterback Cade Chambers noticed the difference and even felt it as well.
“All week it was sort of chippy, even with us in practice,” he said.
By Friday night, it was Bradley Central’s turn. Maryville swarmed all over the visiting Bears, limiting them to 174 yards and intercepting three passes. They played their part in turning a Region 2-6A showdown into a 42-7 rout, complete with a running clock for most of the fourth quarter.
Maryville (6-0, 3-0) still hasn’t lost a region game since 2000.
