OAK RIDGE — Its offense was off Tuesday night, so the Oak Ridge boys’ basketball team turned to its defense.
The Wildcats held visiting Karns to its season-low scoring output in a 54-49 victory and clinched the District 3-4A tournament’s No. 1 seeding.
Oak Ridge (19-3, 8-1) won its sixth straight game by defeating Karns (18-7, 7-2) for the second time this season. The Wildcats won 67-64 at Karns on Jan. 13.
“What a game (Tuesday night),” Oak Ridge coach Aaron Green said. “I thought we didn’t play our best game and they had a lot to do with that. We struggled offensively, didn’t make many shots at all. What I’m most proud of is we found a way to win when we don’t play well offensively. We’ve done that a handful of times this year and that’s a sign of a good team when you can win when you struggle offensively.”
