The West girls’ soccer team won a pivotal game Tuesday night in its bid for a second straight trip to the state tournament.
Junior forward Lillyann Freeman scored in the seventh minute and the No. 3-seeded Lady Rebels beat No. 2 host Farragut 1-0 in the District 4-AAA elimination semifinals.
West (12-4-2) advances to Thursday night’s district title match at two-time defending state champion Bearden (15-0-1), ranked No. 2 in the nation by United Soccer Coaches.
Top-seeded Bearden beat No. 4 Maryville 7-0 in Tuesday’s other district semifinal.
West and Bearden earn berths in next Tuesday’s Region 2-AAA elimination semifinals.
