ALCOA — All three Class 2A Mr. Basketball finalists were under the same roof Tuesday night.
But it wasn’t just about the individual players, there were also four quality teams facing off in the Region 1-2A elimination semifinals.
Three schools — Alcoa, Austin-East and Gatlinburg-Pittman — were the class of District 2-2A. They all split their regular-season meetings with one another.
The other was a South Greene team that captured the District 1-2A Tournament title and was trying to crash the party of District 2 schools.
When the dust cleared, it was the defending 2A state champions Alcoa, and region newcomer Austin-East standing tall.
The Tornadoes and Roadrunners will meet for the region crown Thursday at Alcoa, and both play in substate games on Monday, March 4th.
