Fulton boys basketball is a regular in the state tournament.
Carter hasn’t been since 2015.
Both schools will get a chance to qualify this season in Monday’s sectionals, but will first meet in the Region 2-3A Tournament championship game on Thursday after coming away victorious in Tuesday’s semifinals at Fulton.
Thanks to Derrick Smith, the Falcons raced past Anderson County, 71-50.
The Hornets took down Clinton 79-69 in the opening semifinal.
The District 3-3A foes have faced off three times already this season, with Fulton winning the two regular-season meetings, but Carter coming away with the district tournament title one week ago.
“Outstanding team and just a tough matchup,” Fulton coach Jody Wright said about Carter.
“They’re big, athletic and well-coached. We’ll certainly have our hands full.
