For the second straight season, it’ll be the Cocke County and Northview girls basketball teams meeting up for a fourth time.
The two squads took care of business on Monday in the semifinals of the Region 2-3A Tournament at Fulton.
Cocke County opened the night with a 61-35 rout over Seymour for its 12th win in a row.
Northview rallied in the fourth quarter to edge Scott High, 37-30.
The Lady Red and Lady Cougars split four meetings last season, with the Lady Cougars winning the District 3-3A Tournament finals and the Lady Red winning the region finals.
Cocke County advanced to the state semifinals last season, while Northview fell in a sectional game.
The Lady Red hold a 3-0 advantage this season, including a 64-50 win for the district tournament crown on February 24th.
“I think Cocke County plays harder than any team we’ve played all year. We know they’re going to come in and want it,” Northview coach Brooke Shelley said.
“They play so inspired, they’re super resilient. I told the girls we don’t have to be anything other than us.
“ … If we trust each other, trust our preparation, we can’t get out-worked, we’ve got to play smarter than we’ve played against them in the past, and if we do that we give ourselves a chance to win.”
