South-Doyle welcomed Hardin Valley to Billy K. Nicely Stadium on Friday evening for their final scrimmage.
South-Doyle trailed by a couple of scores in the early going, but battled back in the second half.
“The reality is – I don’t think any of our guys are surprised by the way tonight went, because we didn’t have a good week of practice,” South-Doyle football coach Paul Shelton said.
After several miscues in Friday’s scrimmage, Shelton wants his players to respond in practice this week.
“I just told our guys, ‘That was not the type of scrimmage you want to end on.’ There’s some stuff out there we definitely have to clean up,” Shelton said. “The reality is: this will ultimately be a really good thing for us. Our guys have a bad taste, but they’re handling it in a mature way. Hopefully it alerts us, and we have a better week of practice.”
Though a few errors were self-inflicted, the Cherokees responded to adversity during Friday’s scrimmage.
