Just getting on the field for some preseason scrimmages has been a task and then some for the West High School football team.
The July 29 date was called off for illness within the Jefferson County program.
The Aug. 5 matchup with South-Doyle was cancelled because of inclement weather.
But luckily for Lamar Brown and the Rebels, they were able to work out a scrimmage date with Anderson County on Monday night in Clinton.
“I wanted to see us compete (Monday). We’ve got a lot of guys who’ve played a lot of football, but — especially offensively — not many of those guys were there in the spring. This was really their only scrimmage,” West coach Lamar Brown said.
“I wanted to see them compete. And that’s something we’re pretty good at; our kids are really good at competing. I thought we played really physical tonight, and that was a good thing to see.”
