SEVIERVILLE – The beat goes on for the record-setting Sevier County High School football team.
The Smoky Bears moved to 11-0 for the first time in the program’s 100-year history with a 35-12 win over Central on Friday night in the first round of the state Class 5A playoffs.
Sevier County, which has outscored its opposition 465-82, now braces for easily its toughest test of the season.
The Smoky Bears host Powell (9-2) Friday night in Round 2 of the playoffs.
The Panthers handed Tennessee High a 34-7 loss in their playoff opener on Friday.
“We have all kinds of respect for what those guys (Powell) do, but we’re trying to go at it one week at a time and trying to treat it as our next game,” said Sevier County coach Todd Loveday.
