Elijah Young continues to work himself into a better situation.
The South-Doyle football star’s commitment to play football Tuesday for Missouri ensured the rising senior a spot on an SEC roster for 2020.
But more than that, it guaranteed the chance for a brighter future that maybe looked a bit bleak just years ago.
“Well, you see, me growing up, I didn’t really have anything. We lived in the projects. And then my father passed away. My mom was incarcerated. So it was just me, my siblings and my granny,” said Young.
“I knew I had to do something to get us out of this little hole. … I just know I had to grind. Nothing’s given to you easy. You have to work for everything in life. To get the results I want, I have to work for it.”
