In our debut football season of 2018, we wrote a historical glance at the Alcoa-Maryville Rivalry, giving you all its top games, moments, heroes and coaches dating back to 2000.
We reheated it in 2019.
Now, we rehash it again.
And why not? The two teams have a combined 35 state titles. That alone warrants it.
The Rebels own a 63-25-3 mark in the series, which dates back to 1927, and have won eight of the last nine meetings. Alcoa won the 2018 meeting.
Both teams are coming off state titles in 2019, Maryville winning 6A and Alcoa taking 3A for the fifth consecutive season.
Maryville’s win streak stands at 17 games entering Week 4. Alcoa’s is at 14 games.
