The semifinal obstacle is finally cleared.
West High School’s Rebels, after fourth-round losses in 2021 and 2019, are just one win removed from the top prize in Tennessee Class 5A football.
West quarterback Carson Jessie hit tight end R.J. Brooks on a 5-yard touchdown pass with 46 seconds to play to give the Rebels a hard-earned 28-21 victory over defending state champion Powell.
