The TSSAA announced the semifinalists Thursday for the 2020 Tennessee Titans Mr. Football Awards, and 13 area players made the list.
Coaches and media from around the state nominated players based on regular-season performance. A committee of statewide media members selected the winners based off regular-season performances, academics and character.
What a player does in the postseason will not affect the results for Mr. Football.
The final voting concluded earlier this week.
There were five semifinalists named on Thursday in the nine classifications (Classes 1-6A, Division II-A, AA, AAA), as well as five semifinalists for Mr. Football Kicker.
Up for Mr. Football from our coverage area are: Nakelin McAfee (The King’s Academy, Division II-A), J.D. Dunn (CAK, Division II-AA), Jackson Bradley (Webb, Division II-AA), Kolby Morgan (Oneida, Class 2A), Will Meadows (Meigs County, Class 2A), Isiah Cox (Alcoa, Class 3A), Grey Carroll (Alcoa, Class 3A), Bryson Rollins (Elizabethton, Class 4A), Parker Hughes (Elizabethton, Class 4A), Kalib Fortner (Central, Class 5A), Jordyn Potts (Powell, Class 5A) and Jalen Hunt (McMinn County, Class 6A).
Gatlinburg-Pittman kicker Bryson Flynn is a semifinalist for Mr. Football Kicker.
Three finalists for each category will be announced by Mike Keith, the Voice of the Tennessee Titans, via the Titans’ website at www.titansonline.com on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at noon Eastern.
The three finalists for each award will be invited to attend the awards luncheon at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, where the winner of each award will be announced the week following the BlueCross Bowls.
